I am "currently" a licensed therapist and when I retire, I will be a retired therapist but this is not therapy. What is the difference? In therapy we are usually working through deep unresolved trauma. It includes the use of various therapeutic techniques that are focused on helping you gain insight into how your past experiences impact your current behaviors.
In coaching we are focused on the present moment and creating actionable steps for you to change.
If I meet you as coaching client you must remain a coaching client. Additionally, if you begin to develop concerning mental health symptoms you may be referred to therapy.
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, but can be an excellent choice as an addition or after therapy is complete.
